Installation and Assembly

One of the most important pre-conditions for an efficient stove is the chimney. In principle, the chimney functions as the “engine” of the wood-burning stove. If the installation does not produce the correct draught, it will not function as it should. New stoves place higher demands on draught and chimney conditions than older stoves using traditional combustion principles. The stove can be installed on a brick or fabricated chimney system.

Draught

Draught in the chimney is created as a result of the difference between the high temperature in the chimney and the relatively colder outside temperature.

Reduced draught may occur when:

  • The temperature difference is too small. For example, if the chimney is poorly insulated.
  • The outside temperature is too high. For example, during the summer.
  • The chimney is too short.
  • If the termination is sheltered by the roof face, adjacent structures or high trees.
  • Air enters the chimney where it shouldn’t, e.g. through cracked joints.
  • We recommend that you have your chimney regularly checked by a qualified chimney sweep.

Installation

Installing a Morsø stove must be conducted by a suitably qualified HETAS engineer
or approved by local building control. Your Morsø dealer can offer guidance and assistance with this.
